Brief information for tourists about the island of Bali
Where is Bali located?
Bali is located in Southeast Asia. This is one of the islands that enters a country called Indonesia. Bali is not a separate country, although it has its own, different from the rest of Indonesia, nature and culture. Bali is washed by the Indian Ocean from the south side, all the popular resorts are located there. The sea in Bali is only in the north, but local resorts are not very popular. The capital of Bali is the city of Denpasar, the main airport of Bali is also located in Kut, which is next to Denpasar.
Religion and Culture
In Bali, Hinduism, in the rest of Indonesia, islam. Muslim influence is fortunately not great in Bali, so the Balinese are quite peaceful, positive about tourists of both sexes. There is no dress code and no restrictions on alcohol or anything else. From a cultural point of view, Bali is Indonesia's most interesting island. In Indonesia, the national language is Indonesian (bahasa indonesia), the Balinese have their own Balinese language, but most of them communicate in Indonesian with each other. Plus, in the tourist area, almost all Balinese know some minimal basic English.
Visa to Bali
Most countries do not need a visa to Bali. If you want to stay in Bali for more than 30 days, then you need to get a visa at the embassy in advance or pay for a visa upon arrival.
Time and time zones.
Time in Bali is ahead of Kiev, in the winter by 5 hours, in the summer by 4 hours. Bali has a short daylight hours. The sun sets at 6 pm, rises at 6 in the morning. Therefore, the larks in Bali are best :-)
Currency and prices
The local currency is the Indonesian rupees (IDR). All payments are made only in rupees, they do not accept other currencies. $ 1 is approximately 14,000 rupees
You can use ATMs to get local currency. In tourist areas on every corner. ATMs issue 50,000 rupee notes or 100,000 rupees. The latter are more convenient, since in these ATMs you can withdraw up to 2,500,000 rupees (at least 3,000,000 rupees) at a time. This is about $ 200. Most ATMs (e.g. Mandiri, BCA, Danamon) do not charge a withdrawal fee. Those ATMs that they take usually report this on a sticker on the ATM. In addition, you can change the authorized exchange centers (Authorized Money Exchange), we do not recommend changing anywhere on the street, they often cheat. At the airport, upon arrival, change $ 150-200, and when you figure out the local prices, you will understand how much you will need to change again. You can carry dollars or euros, there is no difference. You can’t exchange rubles for rupees.
You can pay by card only in a limited number of places, it is better to have cash with you.
Approximate prices: freshly squeezed juice in a cafe from 15,000 to 35,000 rupees ($ 1-3), a hot meal in a cafe: 30,000-75,000 rupees ($ 3-7), taxi from $ 3 to $ 10 (30-minute taxi ride) , moped rental: from 50,000 rupees per day, excursions - from $ 40 (for a one-day excursion around the island) to $ 150 and more (for excursions to neighboring islands).
