In the absence of people on the beaches of Thailand, rare marine inhabitants reappeared - leatherback turtles Dermochelyidae, threatened with extinction in the kingdom

This season they have built their largest number of nests in the last 20 years - eleven. Scientists have also found 84 already hatched turtles. As stated at the Phuket Marine Biological Center, this is a “very good sign,” since not a single nest has been found over the past five years, almost all spawning sites have been destroyed by humans.

This type of turtles is the largest in the world, their body length can reach 2.6 m, the front fins span is 2.5 m, and their weight can exceed 900 kg ☝
