Fishing in the Dominican Republic
Fishing in the Dominican Republic is one of the most popular excursions among the island's many services. And this is no accident. The waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea are rich in rare aquatic fauna such as blue marlins, barracudas, sea bass, sharks and many others.
Despite such an abundance of marine life, locals are not brown seafood aficionados. Apparently, the fact that before the arrival of the Spaniards and the colonization of the island, the local population ate only fish. And then the Spaniards brought in chicken and pork (in 1492) and since then, dishes made from these products have been popular. A short excursion into history is over, now let's return to fishing in the Dominican Republic.
Due to the fact that the locals are not avid fishermen, there are no laws prohibiting fishing here. You can fish as much as you like, and no one will show you anything.
Perhaps the easiest way to fish is from a boat. You make yourself comfortable and head out into the open ocean further from the coast. Fishing lines are thrown into the water with live bait or bait, which attracts large marine life. The boat captain follows the birds at this time. Where there are birds, there is also a school of fish.
Does it bite? And now the most interesting thing is to get the sea giant out of the water and take a photo for memory! Don't forget to bring your camera. Such a spectacle must be captured.
There is no clear fishing season in the Dominican Republic, or vice versa, calm. You can fish all year round at any time. The most popular catches will be: White Marlin, Wahoo, Blue Marlin, Dorado, Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish.
Fishing in the open ocean and catching such large fish weighing up to 150 kilograms will definitely be remembered for a long time.
