Komodo Island and the famous Pink Beach
Komodo Island is located in the heart of the Indonesian Archipelago. This is the habitat of the unique and largest lizards in the world - Komodo dragons
ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
There is no airport or hotels. Nevertheless, many tourists dream of visiting this island. Komodo and the neighboring island of Rincha are famous for their unusual inhabitants - giant monitor lizards. This endangered species has survived only here. In 1980, the islands were declared national reserves: "bothering" Komodo dragons, especially hunting them, is strictly prohibited!
ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
Komodo lizard is the largest of the existing lizards and the heaviest modern representative of scaly: individual representatives of this species can grow more than 3 meters in length and weigh more than 130 kilograms
ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
But there is no reason for tourists to worry, since attacks on people are extremely rare and the people themselves (or their excessive curiosity) were to blame for these cases. In order to avoid tête-à-tête meeting with the monitor lizard, the tour provides for the mandatory accompaniment of a local ranger
ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
The nearest airport is Flores Island (Labuan Bajo). The flight from Bali takes about an hour and a half. Next - a few hours on a motor boat. It should be borne in mind that while visiting Komodo Island, tourists are offered dinner and overnight on a boat. But the visit is worth it, now let's explain why
ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
Komodo's unique marine life attracts famous divers with its coral reefs. The national park does not end with land, but includes coastal waters with a variety of animals on the islands of Rincha and Padar. The UNESCO-protected park is home to giant monitor lizards, flying foxes, wild buffaloes and rare birds.
ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
But the island's calling card, in addition to the monitor lizards, is Pink Beach with azure blue water and pink sand. There are 7 such beaches on our planet - Bahamas, Bermuda, Harbor Island (Bermuda), Santa Cruz Island (Philippines), Budelli Island (Italy), Bonair Beach (Dutch Caribbean Island)
ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
The rarest color of sand is created thanks to the simplest organisms foraminifera, or rather their pink microscopic shells
