Cuba or Dominican Republic: what to choose

The Caribbean Sea is a favorite vacation spot for tourists from all over the world. A choice appears here - Cuba or Dominican Republic? This question is asked by many tourists. After all, these countries have a lot in common. Both are washed by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other. Therefore, the weather conditions, climate, beaches are similar here. But at the same time, the countries are completely different. And it is very difficult to give preference to any one.

1) Hotels

The undisputed leader here is the Dominican Republic, as it can offer a much larger number of five-star hotels, villas and apartments. The vast majority of them work on an "all inclusive" system. Huge rooms with a jacuzzi, an area surrounded by greenery, many swimming pools, 24-hour service, a lot of restaurants and entertainment, a magnificent beach, drinks that the waiter will bring directly to your sun lounger by the sea - everything here is done to ensure that your stay is relaxed and as comfortable as possible.

In Cuba, the housing situation is slightly different. This does not mean that Cuba has bad and disgusting hotels, but many tourists consider them a relic of the past. And it is worth settling here exclusively in fours and fives. Otherwise, you may find in your room an old withered bed, uneven painted walls and an inoperative shower. Cuba rarely offers comfortable rooms, luxury grounds and service

2) Price

With the price in this case, very different opinions, because in the Dominican Republic and Cuba, the rest cannot be called budget, unless you are lucky enough to find a last minute ticket in the low season. Flights from Russia and Ukraine are approximately 11-13 hours, and ticket prices start at about $ 700. Cuba is in the lead for everything else, as it has much more cheap hotels to offer. The price for a package tour can be 25-30 or even 50% less than in the Dominican Republic.

3) Nature

Both of these countries were as if specially created for a beach holiday surrounded by beautiful nature. Both in the Dominican Republic and Cuba, tourists are expected by spacious coastlines, white sandy beaches with gentle slopes into the water and crystal-clear sea. The only thing is that in winter in the Dominican Republic the air and water temperature is a couple of degrees higher than in Cuba. Some tourists claim that there is more seaweed there, but the hotel staff strictly monitor this. Without a doubt, both Caribbean countries are the best resorts for beach lovers.

4) Security

If you get tired of a beach holiday and you decide to get to the city, it is better to do it in Cuba. Walking here is absolutely safe for tourists, there are friendly smiling people everywhere. Cubans are in principle good-natured and open, but if you feel calmer this way, then take into account that the safety of tourists here is protected at the legislative level. A crime committed against them is punished much more severely than against compatriots. And in this respect, the Dominican Republic is certainly inferior to Cuba.

It's up to you to choose where and how long to fly. Both can offer a good holiday, but if you are on a budget and want to spend as long as possible in the Caribbean, then Cuba is the best choice. If you want to relax with all the amenities and chic, then the Dominican Republic is better suited. Regardless of the country, rest primarily depends on nature, which is about the same here.
