Play Laem Temple on Koh Samui
Temple Plai Laem (Wat Plai Laem, also Wat Laem Suwannaram) - in our opinion, the most interesting and beautiful temple on Koh Samui. It is not as popular and popular as the temple with the monk Khun Aram or the big Buddha, located nearby, but much more picturesque, and also offers some entertainment.
ㅤ ㅤ
It is quite modern, built in 2004. Here three styles of temple buildings are combined at once: classic Thai, Chinese, Indian. Each style is expressed as individual elements of buildings or in statues. So, the main statue of the temple here depicts the Chinese-style goddess Guanyin, but there is also a huge statue of a happy sitting Buddha. The main viharn is made in traditional Thai style. There is a huge footprint of the Buddha
ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
But the most interesting thing is that the two statues and the temple are on an artificial lake, and it seems that they are floating on the surface of the water
ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
The lake is inhabited by huge fat catfish and small turtles, which can be fed by buying a bag of food for 10 baht here. And for 100 baht you can ride on the lake on a swan boat
ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
Getting there: The temple is located in the northeast near the Big Buddha. You can only get here by taxi or rented transport
ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
Entrance fee / ticket price: admission is free. Donations are welcome
ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
Opening hours: the temple is open daily during daylight hours
